cuvieri, Otolithes Trewavas [E.] 1974:Unnumbered [ ref. 21555] Malabar, India. Syntypes: BMNH 1898.11.18.29 (1) "paratype"; MNHN 0000-7617 (1) "holotype" and MNHN 1987-0159 [ex MNHN 0000-7617] (1) "paratype". Type catalog: Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:14 [ref. 6382]. This was proposed as a new name for Otolithus ruber (not Bloch & Schneider 1801) Cuvier 1830, with 2 literature sources provided; Trewavas' name was not technically a replacement name.
