fuscovirens, Apistus Cuvier [G.] (ex Quoy & Gaimard) in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1829:409 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 4; ref. 998] Ambon Island, Molucca Islands, Indonesia. Originally as fusco-virens. Subjective synonym of Apistus longispinus Cuvier; Bleeker (1876) apparently gives precedence to longispinus. •Synonym of Paracentropogon longispinis (Cuvier 1829) -- (Kottelat 2013:315 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Paracentropogon longispinis (Cuvier 1829). Synanceiidae: Tetraroginae. Habitat: marine.

hypselopterus, Apistus Bleeker [P.] 1851:238 [Natuurkundig Tijdschrift voor Nederlandsch Indië v. 2 (no. 2); ref. 331] Banda Neira, Banda Islands, Indonesia. Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:154 [ref. 20743], Whitehead & Talwar 1976:159 [ref. 23762]. •Questionably a synonym of Paracentropogon longispinis (Cuvier 1829) -- (Kottelat 2013:315 [ref. 32989]). leucoprosopos, Apistus Bleeker [P.] 1856:35 [Acta Societatis Regiae Scientiarum Indo-Neêrlandicae v. 1; ref. 311] Ambon Island, Molucca Islands, Indonesia. Holotype (unique): RMNH 5875. Centropogon leucoprosopon Günther 1860:130 [ref. 1963] was an unjustified emendation, but that spelling was adopted by Bleeker himself (1876) and others; we suggest continuing the emended spelling if this species is found to be valid. •Questionably a synonym of Paracentropogon longispinis (Cuvier 1829) -- (Kottelat 2013:315 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Paracentropogon longispinis (Cuvier 1829). Synanceiidae: Tetraroginae. Habitat: marine.
