Holotype (unique): AMS IA.6447. •Synonym of Pteraclis veliferum (Pallas 1770) -- (Mead 1972:118 [ref. 6976] as velifera, Bray et al. 2006:1186 [ref. 29088] as velifera). Current status: Synonym of Pteraclis veliferum (Pallas 1770). Bramidae. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): MNHN A-5385 (poor condition). Type catalog: Bauchot 1970:32 [ref. 20740]. ocellatus, Pteraclis Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1833:363, Pl. 271 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 9; ref. 1002] Mozambique Channel, 30°S. Holotype (unique): MNHN A-0590. Type catalog: Bauchot 1970:32-33 [ref. 20740]. Name was spelled ocellutus on Pl. 271. •Synonym of Pteraclis veliferum (Pallas 1770) -- (Mead 1972:118 [ref. 6976] as velifera, Smith 1986:634 [ref. 5712] as velifera, Anderson 2022:22 [ref. 39875] as velifera). Current status: Synonym of Pteraclis veliferum (Pallas 1770). Bramidae. Habitat: marine.

velifera, Coryphaena Pallas [P. S.] 1770:19, Pl. 3 (fig. 1) [Spicilegia Zoologica v. 1 (fasc. 8); ref. 12293] In Oceano utriusque Indiae, praesertim Orientalis [Indian Ocean]. Lectotype: RMNH (whereabouts unknown). Lectotype selected by Fricke 1999:263 [ref. 24106] as the specimen shown in the original figure (Pl. 3, fig. 1) in Pallas. Based on a specimen in RMNH, and on illustrations by Ruysch, Valentyn and Renard.
