Holotype (unique): ZMUC (probably lost). Type information: Nielsen & Bertelsen 190:204 [ref. 13872]. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Leptocephalus latus Eigenmann & Kennedy 1902, replaced by Leptocephalus latissimus Schmidt 1912. •Synonym of Saccopharynx ampullaceus (Harwood 1827) -- (Nielsen & Bertelsen 1990:204 [ref. 13872]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Saccopharynx ampullaceus (Harwood 1827). Saccopharyngidae. Habitat: marine.
