Current status: Valid as Siphonognathus argyrophanes Richardson 1858. Odacidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean: Victoria to Western Australia. Habitat: marine.

Neotype: MNHN B-2769 [ex MNHN A-9305]. Castelnau specimens: MNHN A-9304 (1), A-9305 (now 1). Type catalog: Bauchot 1963:106 [ref. 19171] who names "neosyntypes" from Castelnau 1875 (MNHN B.2769).
