Neotype: ZMH 9287. Neotype designated by Kullander & Britz 2002:355, 358 [ref. 26542]. •Valid as Badis dario (Hamilton 1822) -- (Zhu 1995:171 [ref. 25213]). •Synonym of Badis badis (Hamilton 1822) -- (Menon 1999:290 [ref. 24904]). •Valid as Dario dario (Hamilton 1822) -- (Kullander & Britz 2002:355 [ref. 26542], Britz et al. 2012:63 [ref. 32015], Britz & Kullander 2013:332 [ref. 32979], Britz et al. 2018:146 [ref. 35956]). Current status: Valid as Dario dario (Hamilton 1822). Badidae. Distribution: North India. Habitat: freshwater.

bengalensis, Badis badis Tomey [W. A.] 1999:25, Figs. [Het Aquarium Year 70 (no. 1); ref. 24285] Creek in West Bengal, northeastern India. Specimens alive when description was made; types to be deposited at RMNH [as "NNM, Leiden"]. Issue containing description apparently was distributed in Dec. 1999 (see Kullander & Britz 2002:359 [ref. 26542], although for Jan. 2000). •Synonym of Dario dario (Hamilton 1822) -- (Kullander & Britz 2002:355 [ref. 26542]). Current status: Synonym of Dario dario (Hamilton 1822). Badidae. Habitat: freshwater.
