B.] 2000:8, Fig. 1 [Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters v. 11 (no. 1); ref. 24442] Temporary pool close to rio Taboca, a tributary of rio Paracatú, rio São Francisco basin, Lagoa Grande, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Holotype: MZUSP 52912. Paratypes: MZUSP 52913 (3); UFRJ 4666 (3), 4667 (10, c&s), 4668 (10); UMMZ 234240 (2); plus non-type material. •Valid as Simpsonichthys auratus Costa & Nielsen 2000 -- (Lazara 2001:295 [ref. 25711], Costa in Reis et al. 2003:540 [ref. 27061], Costa 2005:63 [ref. 28575], Costa 2006:17 [ref. 28620], Costa 2007:79 [ref. 29445]). •Valid as Hypsolebias auratus (Costa & Nielsen 2000) -- (based on generic placement in Costa 2011 [ref. 31654]). Current status: Valid as Hypsolebias auratus (Costa & Nielsen 2000). Rivulidae: Cynolebiinae. Distribution: Taboca River floodplains, Paracatu River drainage, middle São Francisco River basin, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
