Holotype: UG/CSBD 1667 [ex ROM 83808]. Paratypes: ANSP, ROM. •Valid as Mazarunia charadrica López-Fernández, Taphorn & Liverpool 2012 -- (Staeck 2017:269 [ref. 35639]). Current status: Valid as Mazarunia charadrica López-Fernández, Taphorn & Liverpool 2012. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: Mazaruni River drainage, Essequibo River basin, Guyana. Habitat: freshwater.
