hardwickii, Temera Gray [J. E.] 1831:7 [Zoological Miscellany 1831; ref. 1879] Penang, Malaysia. Syntypes: BMNH 1953.8.10.9-10 (2). Figured in Gray 1834:v. 2, Pl. 102 (fig. 1) [ref. 1878]. Compagno & Heemstra 2007:43 [ref. 29194] mention Temerara hardwickii of Tirant 1929 [p. 75 or reimpression] -- it is not an original description but a misspelling of Temera. Compagno & Heemstra date to 1929, a reimpression of Tirant 1885. Actual date is 1885 which is ref. 17922, but the original not seen by me [WNE]. •Valid as Temera hardwickii Gray 1831 -- (Monkolprasit 1990:389 [ref. 20064], Mohsin & Ambak 1996:85 [ref. 27969], Compagno & Last 1999:1446 [ref. 24637], Compagno 1999:487 [ref. 25589], Compagno in Randall & Lim 2000:582 [ref. 25122], Compagno et al. 2005:64 [ref. 29145], Compagno & Heemstra 2007:43 [ref. 29194], Last el al. 2010:168 [ref. 32461], Weigmann 2016:76 [ref. 34211], Carvalho 2016:180 [ref. 34997], Psomadakis et al. 2020:201 [ref. 37272] as cf. hardwickii). Current status: Valid as Temera hardwickii Gray 1831. Narkidae. Distribution: Northern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Andaman Sea off Myanmar east to Singapore and Vietnam. Habitat: marine.
