Species illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1887:59 [p. 4 of separate] Pl. 3 [ref. 4235]. •Synonym of Abudefduf luridus (Cuvier 1830) -- (Lloris & Rucabado 1990:843 [ref. 15959]). •Synonym of Chrysiptera unimaculata (Cuvier 1830) -- (Allen 1991:243 [ref. 19344] a mistaken entry). •Valid as Chrysiptera herani (Steindachner 1887) -- (Kottelat 2013:376 [ref. 32989] based on generic status). •Valid as Similiparma hermani (Steindachner 1887) -- (Hensley 1986:858 [ref. 5734], Allen 1991:252 [ref. 19344], Wirtz et al. 2013:130 [ref. 32972], Cooper et al. 2014:476 [ref. 35444], Edwards in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2727 [ref. 34618], Parenti 2021:80 [ref. 38418]). Current status: Valid as Similiparma hermani (Steindachner 1887). Pomacentridae: Microspathodontinae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Cape Verde Islands endemic. Habitat: marine.
