Unnecessary replacement name for Acantopsis dialuzona v. Hasselt 1823. Invalid lectotype selection by Alfred 1961:34 [ref. 20552], he dated species to 1857 [ref. 13960] with locality Borneo or Java; the original locality in 1854 was Java. •Synonym of Acantopsis choirorhynchos (Bleeker 1854) -- (Menon 1992:102 [ref. 23970] as macrorhynchus and choirorhynchus). •Synonym of Acantopis dialuzona van Hasselt 1823 --- (Kottelat 2012:22 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:177 [ref. 32989], Boyd et al. 2017:163 [ref. 35656]). Kottelat 2020:297 [ref. 37435] considers neotype designation [RMNH 31273] as invalid. •Questionably a synonym of Acantopsis dialuzona van Hasselt 1823 -- (Kottelat 2012:22 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:177 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Aperioptus pictorius Richardson 1848 -- (Page & Tangjitjaroen 2015:179 [ref. 33815], Ng et al. 2019:519 [ref. 36606]). •Questionably in family Gonorynchidae -- (Kottelat 2020:298 [ref. 37435]).
