Based on larval males. •Synonym of Linophryne Collett 1886 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:296 [ref. 12442]). •Valid as Haplophryne Regan 1912 -- (Bertelsen in Whitehead et al. 1986:108 [ref. 13677], Pietsch 1999:2037 [ref. 24766], Pietsch 2003:1070 [ref. 27014], Paxton & Gates 2006:669 [ref. 29007], Pietsch 2009:481 [ref. 30766], Stewart & Pietsch 2015:938 [ref. 34271]). Current status: Valid as Haplophryne Regan 1912. Linophrynidae.

Stephanophryne (subgenus of Linophryne) Bertelsen [E.] 1982:92 [Steenstrupia v. 8 (no. 3); ref. 288] Fem. Aceratias macrorhinus indicus Brauer 1902. Type by original designation (also monotypic). For purposes of the type species, the subspecies indicus is elevated to the species level; type not macrorhinus. •Synonym of Linophryne Collett 1886, but a valid subgenus Stephanophryne as described -- (Pietsch 2009:489 [ref. 30766]). Current status: Synonym of Linophryne Collett 1886. Linophrynidae.
