Trichoderma (subgenus of Monocanthus) Swainson [W.] 1839:194, 328 [The natural history and classification v. 2; ref. 4303] Neut. Balistes scopas Cuvier 1829. Type by subsequent designation. Genus should have been Monacanthus. Type species available from footnote, based on Lacepède 1798, Pl. 17 (fig. 3). Type designated by Swain 1882:283 [ref. 5966]. •Synonym of Amanses Gray 1835 -- (Randall 1964:333 [ref. 3148]). Current status: Synonym of Amanses Gray 1835. Monacanthidae.
