Based on style ("nom. sp. nov." instead of "sp. nov.") and the footnote on p. 825, this name is regarded as a replacement name for Ancylopsetta quadrocellata Gill 1864, secondarily preoccupied by Platessa quadrocellata Storer 1847 ("which is also a species of Paralichthys"). The substitute name is not in use and the junior homonym is not to be rejected on grounds of that replacement [ICZN Art. 59.3]. Type locality is the same as for quadrocellata Gill 1864. •Valid as Ancylopsetta ommata (Jordan & Gilbert 1883) -- (Carvalho-Filho 2023:272 [ref. 40480]). •Synonym of Ancylopsetta quadrocellata Gill 1864 -- (Gutherz 1966:469 [ref. 9034], Munroe 2003:1913 [ref. 27118]).
