Apparently a replacement for Chironectes of Cuvier and authors, preoccupied by Chironectes Illiger in Mammalia. Type as above if species is available from 1798; species mentioned by Cuvier on p. 433 (and perhaps made available). See Kottelat 2013:274 [ref. 32989] for the possible type species. Also in Oken 1817 (ex Cuvier) (see Gill 1903:966 [ref. 5768]). If Antennarius Commerson is available, then Chironectes Cuvier perhaps can be considered an unneeded replacement for it.
