Current status: Synonym of Antennarius commerson (Anonymous 1798). Antennariidae. Habitat: marine.

insidiator, Batrachopus Whitley [G. P.] 1934:[1] [Supplement to the check-list of the fishes of New South Wales; ref. 4682] Watson's Bay, near Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Holotype (unique): AMS I.5263. Type catalog: Pietsch & Grobecker 1987:59 [ref. 20669]. Unpaginated, description is on the 1st page of the supplement. Species was originally described and illustrated as Antennarius commersonii in Whitley 1929:137, Pl. 31 (fig. 5) [ref. 4665], but the figured specimen was later renamed as a new species in a footnote in the above reference. •Synonym of Antennarius striatus (Shaw 1794) -- (Pietsch & Grobecker 1987:59 [ref. 20669], Lindberg et al. 1997:218 [ref. 23547], Pietsch & Arnold 2020:101 [ref. 38284]). Current status: Synonym of Antennarius striatus (Shaw 1794). Antennariidae. Habitat: marine.
