Type catalog: Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:63 [ref. 12478]. •Junior synonym of either Apogon lineatus Temminck & Schlegel 1842 or Apogon striatus (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) or senior synonym of Apogon striatodes Gon 1997 -- (Fraser 2000:254 [ref. 24412]). •Valid as Apogon tchefouensis Fang 1942 -- (T. Fraser, pers. comm. 9/2000). •Valid as Jaydia tchefouensis (Fang 1942) -- (Mabuchi et al. 2014:202 [ref. 33426] with question, Fraser & Prokofiev 2016:239 [ref. 34742], Yu et al. 2021:976 [ref. 40905]).
