Paratypes: AMS I.38489 (2); BPBM 7001 (1), 7996 (8), 17960 (3), 28188 (8); CAS 98075 (3); MNHN 1997-4171 (3); NSMT-P 54271 (2); USNM 347161 (3). •Valid as Apogon luteus Randall & Kulbicki 1998 -- (Myers 1999:126 [ref. 23965], Allen 1999:2606 [ref. 24812], Myers & Donaldson 2003:623 [ref. 27495]). •Valid as Ostorhinchus luteus (Randall & Kulbicki 1998) -- (Schultz & Randall 2006:8 [ref. 28964], Mabuchi et al. 2014:200 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:107 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus luteus (Randall & Kulbicki 1998). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Micronesia to Fiji. Habitat: marine.
