Based on Apogon novemfasciatus of Temminck & Schlegel 1843, Pl. 2 (fig. 2). •Valid as Ostorhinchus schlegeli (Bleeker 1855) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:403 [ref. 31980], Mabuchi et al. 2014:200 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:112 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus schlegeli (Bleeker 1855). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Indonesia to China and Japan. Habitat: marine.
