Syntypes: (several) MCZ 4886 (4), 25751 (1); NMW 76393-96 (2, 1, 1, 1), 81043 (1); USNM 153618 [ex MCZ 4886] (1). Species illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1881:55 [p. 39 of separate], Pl. 10 (figs. 10-10b) [ref. 13333]. •Valid as Archosargus pourtalesii (Steindachner 1881) -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:156 [ref. 22193], Grove & Lavenberg 1997:413 [ref. 24023] as pourtalesi, McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:192 [ref. 30957], Parenti 2019:71 [ref. 36892]). Current status: Valid as Archosargus pourtalesii (Steindachner 1881). Sparidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Galápagos Islands. Habitat: marine.
