Paratypes: SIO H53-372 (1), UH (uncat., 3, not found in 1997); USNM 164001 (1), 164002 (3, lost), 164003 (3 or 2). The correct spelling of the species epithet is lychnus. •Synonym of Argyropelecus sladeni Regan 1908 -- (Mecklenburg et al. 2002:221 [ref. 25968], Mundy 2005:169 [ref. 28379]). Current status: Synonym of Argyropelecus sladeni Regan 1908. Sternoptychidae: Sternoptychinae. Habitat: marine.
