Type catalog: Henn 1928:61 [ref. 12305], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:13 [ref. 12367]. •Valid as Astyanax mucronatus Eigenmann 1909 -- (Géry et al. 1996:8 [ref. 22155], Zarske & Géry 1999:205 [ref. 24913]). •Valid as Jupiaba mucronata (Eigenmann 1909) -- (Zanata 1997:128 [ref. 24112], Zanata & Lima 2005:277 [ref. 28235], Pereira & Lucinda 2007:54 [ref. 29302], Netto-Ferreira et al. 2009:65 [ref. 30519], Mirande 2010:502 [ref. 31006], see DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[13] [ref. 35679]). Current status: Valid as Jupiaba mucronata (Eigenmann 1909). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: Coastal rivers of Guyana. Habitat: freshwater.

notatus, Salmo Linnaeus [C.] 1766:513 [Systema naturae sive regna tria naturae v. 1 (pt 1); ref. 2786] Suriname. No types known. Not used as valid after 1899; therefore reversal of priority in favor of Astyanax mucronatus Eigenmann 1909 according to ICZN preamble and Art. 23.9. Not treated in Reis et al 2003 [ref. 27061] •Synonym of Jupiaba mucronata (Eigenman 1909) -- (Zanata 2024:208 [ref. 40817]). Nomen Oblitum. Current status: Synonym of Jupiaba mucronata (Eigenmann 1909). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Habitat: freshwater.
