Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:67 [ref. 12291], Paepke & Seegers 1986:177 [ref. 19981]. Original says, "Type, No. 2686 L.S. Jr. Univ. Mus.", but that lot contains many specimens. •Valid as Atherinella crystallina (Jordan & Culver 1895) -- (Chernoff 1986:160 [ref. 5848], Chernoff 1986:242 [ref. 5847] with subspecies, Espinosa Pérez et al. 1993:57 [ref. 22290], Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:193 [ref. 24550], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:516 [ref. 27061], Nelson et al. 2004:97 [ref. 27807], Miller 2006:189 [ref. 28615], Scharpf 2007:6 [ref. 30398], Page et al. 2013:99 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:138 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Atherinella crystallina (Jordan & Culver 1895). Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: Southern North America: Pacific slope of Mexico. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.

Holotype: UMMZ 172286. Paratypes: ANSP 158518 (10); UMMZ 164531 (22), 164605 (6), 164615 (228 or 238), 164625 (93 or 88), 164625-cs (5, c&s), 178282 (182), 178291 (46), 213590 (124). •Valid as Atherinella elegans Chernoff 1986 -- (Espinosa Pérez et al. 1993:58 [ref. 22290], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:516 [ref. 27061], Nelson et al. 2004:97 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2007:6 [ref. 30398], Page et al. 2013:99 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:138 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Atherinella elegans Chernoff 1986. Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: Southern North America: Del Fuerte River basin, Sinaloa (Pacific slope of Mexico). Habitat: freshwater.

Paralectotypes: BMNH 1895.5.27.158-159 [from Jordan] (2), CAS=SU 2688 (12, now 8 plus lectotype), USNM 47494 (1), ZMB 14065 [ex CAS-SU 2688] (3). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:67 [ref. 12291], Paepke & Seegers 1986:177 [ref. 19981]. Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in caption to Pl. 124, p. 3260 in Jordan & Evermann 1900 [ref. 2446] if figured specimen is identifiable. •Valid as Atherinella evermanni (Jordan & Culver 1895) -- (Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:193 [ref. 24550], Dyer 2000:104 [ref. 26677]). •Synonym of Atherinella crystallina (Jordan & Culver 1895) -- (Chernoff 1986:177 [ref. 5848], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:516 [ref. 27061], Miller 2006:189 [ref. 28615]). Current status: Synonym of Atherinella crystallina (Jordan & Culver 1895). Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.

Holotype: UMMZ 172020. Paratypes: ANSP 158519 (4); UMMZ 213591 (36, 5 c&s). •Mention -- (Miller 2006:189 [ref. 28615]). •Valid as Atherinella pellosemeion Chernoff 1986 -- (Espinosa Pérez et al. 1993:58 [ref. 22290], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:517 [ref. 27061], Nelson et al. 2004:97 [ref. 27807] as pellosemion, Scharpf 2007:6 [ref. 30398] as pellosemion, Page et al. 2013:99 [ref. 32708] as pellosemion, Page et al. 2023:139 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Atherinella pellosemeion Chernoff 1986. Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: Southern North America: Río las Mancuernas drainage, Nayarit (Pacific slope of Mexico). Habitat: freshwater.
