Current status: Valid as Auchenipterus ambyiacus Fowler 1915. Auchenipteridae: Auchenipterinae. Distribution: South America: upper and middle Amazon and Orinoco River basins and coastal rivers of Guyana (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
