Apparently dates to late 1838 as above, even though the 1839, Pl. 39 was cited; distinguishing features provided in account of maculatus. Also in McClelland 1839:273, 344, Pl. 39 (fig. 1) [ref. 2923]. •Synonym of Schizothorax richardsonii (Gray 1832) -- (Tilak 1987:50 [ref. 23969]). •Synonym of Oreinus richardsonii (Gray 1832) -- (Menon 1999:106 [ref. 24904] as richardsoni). Current status: Synonym of Schizothorax richardsonii (Gray 1832). Cyprinidae: Schizothoracinae. Habitat: freshwater.

Syntypes or nontypes: RMNH 10510 (1);SMF 22299 (4), 22301-14 (1, 10, 5, 1, 12, 4, 1, 1, 7, 9, 1, 23, 1, 2). •Synonym of Puntius binotatus (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Roberts 1989:61 [ref. 6439]). •Synonym questionably of Barbodes binotatus (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Kottelat 2013:77 [ref. 32989]). Appeared first as name only in van Hasselt 1823 [ref. 5963]. Possible syntypes: BMNH 1843.2.25.21-22 (2, dry). Replacement name for Hemibarbus maculatus Bleeker 1871, preoccupied by Barbus maculatus Valenciennes 1842 when both are in Barbus. However, use of maculatus can be maintained on the basis of Art. 59.3. •Synonym of Hemibarbus maculatus Bleeker 1871 -- (Lu et al. 1977:447 [ref. 2850], Yue 1995:120 [ref. 22652], Yue in Chen et al. 1998:242 [ref. 23878], Kottelat 2013:110 [ref. 32989], Dyldin & Orlov 2016:661 [ref. 34853]).
