Paratypes: (20) USNM 93313-19 (1, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 4), 93321 (6). •Valid as Bathyclupea gracilis Fowler 1938 -- (Paxton 2001:3211 [ref. 26113], Paxton et al. 2006:1281 [ref. 29086], Fricke et al. 2014:97 [ref. 33932], Prokofiev 2014:131, 136 [ref. 33287]). •Valid as Neobathyclupea gracilis (Fowler 1938) -- (Prokofiev 2014:503 [ref. 33567], Prokofiev et al. 2016:483 [ref. 34983]). Current status: Valid as Neobathyclupea gracilis (Fowler 1938). Bathyclupeidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Eastern Indonesia east to Philippines, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
