Syntypes: USNM 2988 (3) [2 specimens moved to USNM 218000 then back to 2988]. Spelled pectorallis in the original description, but that was apparently in error for pectoralis, the spelling used by subsequent workers. •Synonym of Bodianus diplotaenia (Gill 1862) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:5 [ref. 24943], Gomon 2006:94 [ref. 28730]).
