Current status: Valid as Borostomias panamensis Regan & Trewavas 1929. Stomiidae: Astronesthinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern California (U.S.A.) south to northern Chile, including Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). IUCN (2020): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
