Lectotype: RMNH 7382. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1867.11.28.177 (1). Appeared in the same paper as Carcharias (Prionodon) javanicus Bleeker 1852; White 2012:23 [ref. 31843] acted as the first reviser selecting Carcharias tjutjot as the senior synonym. Spelling tjutjos on Pl. 1 regarded as a typesetting error, as tjutjot elsewhere. Lectotype selelected by Garrick 1982. •Synonym of Carcharhinus dussumieri (Müller & Henle 1839) -- (Garrick 1982:54 [ref. 5454], Compagno 1984:469 [ref. 6846], Compagno & Niem 1998:1334 [ref. 23787], Bonfil & Abdallah 2004:30 [ref. 27735] with author as Valenciennes, Last el al. 2010:97[ref. 32461], Voigt & Weber 2011:58 [ref. 31424]). •Valid as Carcharhinus tjutjot (Bleeker 1852) -- (White 2012:3, 23 [ref. 31843], Ebert et al. 2013:334 [ref. 33045], White & Weigmann 2014:85 [ref. 33352], Weigmann 2016:23 [ref. 34211], Kim et al. 2020:39 [ref. 39118], Nakashimada & Hibino 2022:12 [ref. 39159]). Current status: Valid as Carcharhinus tjutjot (Bleeker 1852). Carcharhinidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Java (Indonesia) and Borneo to Taiwan, north to southern Korea and Fukuoka Prefecture (Japan). Replaced by C. coatesi in New Guinea and Australia [ref. 31843]. Habitat: marine.
