Based on earlier descriptions by Forbes and Richardson of Carpiodes thompsoni, not of Agassiz; proposed conditionally by Hubbs, who suggested the possibility that this may be a hybrid between Carpoides cyprinus and C. carpio. •Synonym of Carpiodes cyprinus (Lesueur 1817) -- (Lee et al. 1980:368 [ref. 22416], Robison & Buchanan 1988:263 [ref. 23393], Baxter & Stone 1995:121 [ref. 23374], Gilbert 1998:183 [ref. 23395]). Current status: Synonym of Carpiodes cyprinus (Lesueur 1817). Catostomidae: Ictiobinae. Habitat: freshwater.
