No types known. Type catalog: Gilbert 1998:204 [ref. 23395]. Name Catostomus setosus Lesueur mentioned on p. 302 evidently in error, and that species described by Rafinesque as velifer (see Gilbert 1998:200 [ref. 23395]). Described as belonging to subgenus Carpiodes, but listed as above.
