Type catalog: Frøiland 1979:150 [ref. 21547]. •Valid as Oculospinus brevis Koefoed 1927 -- (Nielsen & Nybelin 1963:210 [ref. 5094], Nielsen 1973:551 [ref. 6885]). •Synonym of Cataetyx alleni (Byrne 1906) -- (Cohen & Nielsen 1978:47 [ref. 881], Nielsen in Whitehead et al. 1986:1155 [ref. 13677], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:101 [ref. 24448]). Current status: Synonym of Cataetyx alleni (Byrne 1906). Bythitidae. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): MB (destroyed by fire 1978). Misspelled Gramanonus lencos on plate. •Questionably a synonym of Cataetyx alleni (Byrne 1906) -- (Cohen & Nielsen 1978:47 [ref. 881], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:101 [ref. 24448]). Current status: Uncertain as Cataetyx alleni (Byrne 1906). Bythitidae. Habitat: marine.
