Holotype (unique): CAS 49902 [ex IU 15198, not 15202]. •Valid as Cauque wiebrichi Eigenmann 1928 -- (Pequeño 1989:51 [ref. 14125]). •Valid or possible hybrid between Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880) x Odontesthes regia (Humboldt 1821) -- (Dyer 1998:535 [ref. 23858]). •Synonym of Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880) or possible hybrid between Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880) x Odontesthes regia (Humboldt 1821) -- (Dyer 2000:113 [ref. 26677]). •Valid or possible hybrid between O. brevianalis and O. regia -- (Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:522 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Synonym of Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880). Atherinopsidae: Atherinopsinae. Distribution: Valdivia, Chile. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
