Current status: Valid as Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870). Chalceidae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon River basin (Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.

Syntypes: ?MHNJP [= MUSM] (lost). Apparently as a subspecies of Chalceus macrolepidotus Cuvier 1817. •Synonym of Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870) -- (Lima in Reis et al. 2003:121 [ref. 27061], Zanata & Toledo-Piza 2004:115 [ref. 27480]).
