Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:45 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:7 [ref. 9708], Lima in Reis et al. 2003:121 [ref. 27061], Zanata & Toledo-Piza 2004:115 [ref. 27480], Barriga Salazar 2014:106 [ref. 35745], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:64 [ref. 35633], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:20 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870). Chalceidae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon River basin (Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.

Holotype (unique): ANSP 8150 (caudal damaged). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:48 [ref. 13621]; in genus Chalceus and probably from South America. •Synonym of Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870) -- (Lima in Reis et al. 2003:121 [ref. 27061], Zanata & Toledo-Piza 2004:115 [ref. 27480]). Current status: Synonym of Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870). Chalceidae. Habitat: freshwater.

iquitensis, Chalceus macrolepidotus Nakashima [S.] 1941:76, Fig. [Boletín del Museo de Historia Natural "Javier Prado" v. 5 (no. 16); ref. 13189] Surrounds of Iquitos, Amazon system, northeastern Peru. Syntypes: ?MHNJP [= MUSM] (lost). Apparently as a subspecies of Chalceus macrolepidotus Cuvier 1817. •Synonym of Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870) -- (Lima in Reis et al. 2003:121 [ref. 27061], Zanata & Toledo-Piza 2004:115 [ref. 27480]). Current status: Synonym of Chalceus erythrurus (Cope 1870). Chalceidae. Habitat: freshwater.
