Paratypes: MCZ 37238 [ex USNM 121416] (1); UMMZ 145034 [ex USNM 121416] (1); USNM 121416 (orig. 7, now 5). Type catalog: Vari & Howe 1991:12 [ref. 19022]. Apparently not treated by Buckup in Reis et al. 2003 [ref. 27061]. •Synonym of Characidium chupa Schultz 1944 -- (Taphorn 1992:374 [ref. 23654], Buckup 1993:102 [ref. 20831]). Current status: Synonym of Characidium chupa Schultz 1944. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Habitat: freshwater.
