Current status: Valid as Cheilopogon abei Parin 1996. Exocoetidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (SouthAfrica), East Africa, Socotra (Yemen), Seychelles and Madagascar east to Mariana Islands and Solomon Islands, north to Taiwan, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
