Habitat: marine.

Lectotype: BMNH 1867.11.28.196. Paralectotypes: (4) RMNH 7408 (2). Lectotype not regarded as established in Günther 1870:413 [ref. 1995] by use of "Adult. Moluccas ... Type of Ch. hasseltii" becuase Günther used the term to mean a type and not the type. Lectotype selected by Dingerkus & DeFino 1983:17 [ref. 5386]. •Synonym of Chiloscyllium griseum Müller & Henle 1838 -- (Compagno 1984:191 [ref. 6474], Kharin 1987:365 [ref. 6227]). •Valid as Chiloscyllium hasseltii Bleeker 1852 -- (Dingerkus & DeFino 1983:17 [ref. 5386] as hasselti, Compagno & Niem 1998:1254 [ref. 23787] as hasselti, Compagno 1999:476 [ref. 25589] as hasselti, Compagno in Randall & Lim 2000:578 [ref. 25122] as hasselti, Compagno 2001:171 [ref. 26323] as hasselti, Goto 2001:82 [ref. 25912] as hasselti, Last el al. 2010:48 [ref. 32461].
