Current status: Valid as Chromis crusma (Valenciennes 1833). Pomacentridae: Chrominae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific: Cabo Blanco (Peru) south to Talcahuano (Chile). Habitat: marine.

cupreus, Chromis Fowler [H. W.] & Bean [B. A.] 1923:22 [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 63 (no. 2488); ref. 1474] "Singapore, Maui, Fiji, or Samoa," though most likely from either of the last two named. Holotype (unique): USNM 83108. •Synonym of Chromis crusma (Valenciennes 1833) -- (Allen 1991:239 [ref. 19344]). Current status: Synonym of Chromis crusma (Valenciennes 1833). Pomacentridae: Chrominae. Habitat: marine.
