Paratypes: CAS-SU 5995 (1), 23293 (2), 23309 (3). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:82-83 [ref. 12291]. Type series apparently consists of 5 specimens (see p. 393). The figured specimen, listed as the type, can be considered as the holotype if that specimen is identifiable. •Synonym of Chromis ovalis (Steindachner 1900) -- (Randall & Follett 1989:848 [ref. 13575], Allen 1991:240 [ref. 19344], Mundy 2005:427 [ref. 28379], Parenti 2021:56 [ref. 38418]). Current status: Synonym of Chromis ovalis (Steindachner 1900). Pomacentridae: Chrominae. Habitat: marine.
