Glyphidodon azureus Cuvier 1830 (= Glyphidodon cyaneus Quoy & Gaimard 1825). Type by being a replacement name (see text). Not usually regarded as a replacement name, but from text it is clearly an unneeded replacement for Chrysiptera Swainson 1839 (with same type), Chrysiptera not preoccupied as thought by Bleeker. Also appeared in Bleeker 1877:41 [ref. 453]. Correct spelling for genus of type species is Glyphisodon. •Incorrectly regarded as valid as Glyphidodontops Bleeker 1877 -- (Shen & Chan 1979:72 [ref. 6944]). •Objective synonym of Chrysiptera Swainson 1839-- (Allen et al. 2010:62 [ref. 30801], Kottelat 2013:376 [ref. 32989], Parenti 2021:59 [ref. 38418]).
