Original genus should have been Cichlasoma. •Valid as Nandopsis atromaculata (Regan 1912) -- (Burgess 2000:48 [ref. 24818] as atromaculatum). •Valid as Cichlasoma atromaculatum Regan 1912 -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:621 [ref. 27061] as incertae sedis in 'Cichlasoma'). •Valid as Mesoheros atromaculatus (Regan 1912) -- (McMahan et al. 2015:228 [ref. 33920], Musilová et al. 2015:339 [ref. 35426], Říčan et al. 2016:29 [ref. 34357], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:100 [ref. 35633]). Current status: Valid as Mesoheros atromaculatus (Regan 1912). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: Atrato, San Juan and Baudó River basins, Colombia. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
