Paralectotypes: (2) BMNH 1887.12.7.112 (1), 1887.12.7.132 (1) Mid-Pacific. Original genus should have been Macrourus. The type specimens are also syntypes of Coryphaenoides leptolepis Günther 1877 (Pers. comm. Tomio Iwamoto, Oct. 1992).
