Current status: Valid as Coryphaenoides leptolepis Günther 1877. Macrouridae. Distribution: Circumglobal: Atlantic, North Pacific and Indian Ocean. Habitat: marine.

liocephalus, Macrurus Günther [A.] 1887:145, Pl. 38 (fig. A) [Report on the Scientific Results of the Voyage of H. M. S. Paralectotypes: (2) BMNH 1887.12.7.112 (1), 1887.12.7.132 (1) Mid-Pacific. Original genus should have been Macrourus. The type specimens are also syntypes of Coryphaenoides leptolepis Günther 1877 (Pers. comm. Tomio Iwamoto, Oct. 1992). Lectotype selected by Nakayama 2020:177 [ref. 37888]. •Valid as Coryphaenoides liocephalus (Günther 1887) -- (Sawada in Amaoka et al. 1983:195, 139 [ref. 8379], Okamura in Masuda et al. 1984:86 [ref. 6441], McAllister 1990:122 [ref. 14674], Iwamoto in Cohen et al. 1990:201 [ref. 18936], Nakabo 2000:427 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:427 [ref. 26001]). •Questionably a synonym of Coryphaenoides leptolepis Günther 1877 -- (Mecklenburg et al. 2002:274 [ref. 25968]). •Synonym of Coryphaenoides leptolepis Günther 1877 -- (Nakayama 2020:176 [ref. 37888]).
