Current status: Synonym of Cottus klamathensis Gilbert 1898. Cottidae. Distribution: Pit River system, California, U.S.A. [subspecies macrops]. Habitat: freshwater.

Paratypes: NYSM 11452 (1). Based on 40 specimens; holotype and 1 paratype listed on p. 951; additional specimens are therefore regarded as additional non-type material. •Synonym of Cottus klamathensis Gilbert 1898, but a valid subspecies polyporus Daniels & Moyle as described -- (Moyle 2002:356 [ref. 26449], Scharpf 2008:10 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:483 [ref. 31215]). Current status: Synonym of Cottus klamathensis Gilbert 1898. Cottidae. Distribution: Klamath River and tributaries, Oregon and California, U.S.A. [subspecies polyporus]. Habitat: freshwater.
