Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1968:54 [ref. 20738]. •Synonym of Cottus carolinae (Gill 1861) -- (Lee et al. 1980:807 [ref. 22416], Robison & Buchanan 1988:476 [ref. 23393]). •Synonym of Cottus carolinae (Gill 1861), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Boschung & Mayden 2004:424 [ref. 27995], Scharpf 2008:8 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:470 [ref. 31215]). Current status: Synonym of Cottus carolinae (Gill 1861). Cottidae. Distribution: Southeastern U.S.A.: Alabama and Georgia [subspecies zopherus]. Habitat: freshwater.
