Current status: Valid as Bryconops cyrtogaster (Norman 1926). Iguanodectidae. Distribution: South America: Oyapock River basin, French Guiana and Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.

Syntypes: (several species) NMW 68532 (4), 68939 (3), 69213 (6, now 5). For type information, see Lucinda & Guedes 2018:231 [ref. 36202]. On p. 35 of separate; also in Steindachner 1917 [ref. 15259]. Species not listed in earlier abstract [ref. 18909]. Combine with a masculine genus, the adjective is transitorius. •Synonym of Bryconops melanurus (Bloch 1794) -- (Koerber et al. 2017:39 [ref. 35267]). •Valid as Bryconops transitorius (Steindachner 1915) -- (Buckup in Reis et al. 2003:120 [ref. 27061], Guedes et al. 2016:[11] [ref. 34534], Silva-Oliveira & Lima 2024:375 [ref. 40817] as transitoria). Current status: Valid as Bryconops transitorius (Steindachner 1915). Iguanodectidae. Distribution: South America: western Amazon basin, Brazil and Guyana Habitat: freshwater.
