Holotype (unique): RMNH 7000. •Valid as Cyclocheilichthys microlepis (Bleeker 1851) -- (Roberts 1989:36 [ref. 6439], Rainboth 1996:89 [ref. 22772]). •Valid as Neobarynotus microlepis (Bleeker 1851) -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:38 [ref. 23448], Kottelat & Widjanarti 2005:151 [ref. 28284], Tan & Kottelat 2009:40 [ref. 30261], Kottelat 2013:126 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Neobarynotus microlepis (Bleeker 1851). Cyprinidae: Cyprininae. Distribution: Asia: originally Borneo, Sumatra, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
