Paratype CAS 55426 is this species, not D. nahuelbutaensis [ref. 35155]. •Valid as Diplomystes incognitus Arratia & Quezada-Romegialli 2017 -- (Muñoz-Ramírez et al. 2023:8 [ref. 40526]). Current status: Valid as Diplomystes incognitus Arratia & Quezada-Romegialli 2017. Diplomystidae. Distribution: South America: Rapel, Mataquito, Maule and Itata River basins, Chile. Habitat: freshwater.
