Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Indonesia east to Philippines, north to southern Korea, Japan and Ogasawara Islands (Japan), south to northern Western Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine. gracilispinis, Rhomboserranus Fowler [H. W.] 1943:59, Fig. 8 [Bulletin of the United States National Museum No. 100, v. 14 (pt 2); ref. 1441] Off Corregidor Light, China Sea, southern Luzon Island, Philippines, 13°58'45"N, 120°21'35"E, Albatross station D.5273, depth 114 fathoms. Paratypes: USNM 99520-21 (6, 9). •Valid as Doederleinia gracilispinis (Fowler 1943) -- (Carpenter 1999:2437 [ref. 24813]). •Synonym of Doederleinia berycoides (Hilgendorf 1879) -- (Yamanoue & Matsuura 2007:406 [ref. 29357]). Current status: Synonym of Doederleinia berycoides (Hilgendorf 1879). Acropomatidae. Distribution: Western Pacific. Habitat: marine. orientalis, Doederleinia Steindachner [F.] & Döderlein [L.] 1883:237 [29] [Denkschriften der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Wien, Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Classe. v. 47 (pt 1); ref. 4246] Tokyo Bay, Japan. Holotype (unique): NMW 76073. Genus originally spelled as Döderleinia; species not listed in earlier abstract [ref. 20489]. •Synonym of Doederleinia berycoides (Hilbendorf 1879) -- (Paxton et al. 2006:977 [ref. 28994]).
