Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Gymnognathus Schoenherr 1823 and by Solier 1851 in Coleoptera; not replaced. In Oxygastrinae based on Elopichthys of Tang et al. 2013:101 [ref. 33447]. •Synonym of Elopichthys Bleeker 1860 -- (Bănărescu 1997:22 [ref. 23274], Kottelat 2013:101 [ref. 32989]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Elopichthys Bleeker 1860. Xenocyprididae.

Scombrocypris Günther [A.] 1889:226 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 6) v. 4 (no. 21); ref. 2016] Fem. Scombrocypris styani Günther 1889. Type by monotypy. Jordan 1920:446 [ref. 4905] lists a Scomberopsis Günther 1889:226, with type as styani, but this is in error; Jordan lists Scombrocypris correctly.
