An unjustified emendation of Elops Linnaeus 1766; also perhaps preoccupied by Helops Brandt & Ratzeburg 1833 in fishes. Whitley 1935:136 [ref. 6396] states that Bory de Saint-Vincent earlier made this emendation [not investigated]. •Objective synonym of Elops Linnaeus 1766 -- (Daget 1984:30 [ref. 6170], Kottelat 2013:33 [ref. 32989]).
